Al-Hijr, known to Muslims as Al-Hijr and also known as Mada’in Saleh, is an archaeological site located in the Al-Ula area within the Al Madinah Region of the Hejaz region of Saudi Arabia. Most of the remains date back to the Nabataean Kingdom. Human presence at Al-Hijr dates back to after the first millennium BC, and it was the site of a Nabataean city from the end of the first millennium BC to the first millennium AD.
