Explore the Ancient culture of the Bedouins at a stunning traditional desert camp, learn how these desert nomads survive among the dunes, and experience firsthand some of their rich traditions.
Upon reaching the site, you will ascend through the dunes to a traditional camp, where the welcoming sound of the Nijr invites you to sit in one of the beautifully adorned tents for traditional coffee and dates. The evening activities begin with a lesson in wearing the traditional Saudi shemagh and jewelry (hama), before you join your fellow guests to learn the art of making Saudi coffee traditionally, including the unique way Saudis infuse their coffee with spices. Next, you’ll be taken around the camp, learning about traditional palm weaving, Sadu, leben, and ghee production, and the significance of Bedouin swords. After exploring the camp, you’ll be shown one of the oldest forms of bread-making known to man: Bedouin fire bread, and enjoy an on-site prepared traditional mandi. Burning oud and medicinal desert plants are brought out and explained before the evening concludes with an extraordinary stargazing experience followed by joining in a traditional dance.
